Over her years of training and work Roxanne Barksdale, MSW, LCSW has studied and come to practice a variety of Models of Treatment for helping you in therapy.

A descriptive term for a model of Therapy which addresses more than one client in the office is “System’s Theory”.  This approach is important when the focus is in helping parents and couples understand the dynamics they find difficult in their relationships.  Transactional Analysis originated by Eric Berne and specifically Redecision Therapy by Bob & Mary Goulding and taught by Vann Joines at Southeast Institute for Group and Family Therapy <http://www.seinstitute.com/redecision-therapy/>.  Roxanne is also is skillful with Advanced Integrative Therapy  developed by Asha Clinton, PhD <http://www.aitherapy.org/wp/training_for_therapists/>.  Both are great means of accomplishing goals for personal change including issues of depression and anxiety.  Another model of Couple therapy which Roxanne finds helpful  is Relational Life Therapy by Terry Real founder of The Relational Life Institute.

She assists Parents, teachers and other providers for Children in becoming familiar with skills for building healthy families and responding to the challenging behavior of their children.   Roxanne has for years taught the Transactional Analysis concepts of child development developed by Pamela Levine as well as the those of  Jean Illsley Clark who translated and published Pam’s conclusions into a practical format, "Self Esteem; A Family Affair".  Both the theory and the practical strategies are helpful information.  One of Roxanne's favorite parenting experts is  Barbara Colors  and both her book and recording of principles called “Kids Are Worth It”. She also finds the concepts of “Love and Logic” information from Foster Cline and Eric Faye effective in parenting.
Ms. Barksdale has also studied
Cognitive Behavioral Therapies including Dialectical Behavioral Therapy and finds them helpful for some folks, who especially need to focus attention on their personal behavior that is difficult for themselves or for others around them.
